Go.To.HELvetica.

HELVETICA. The go to typeface or font that is timeless. I heart Helvetica so much. I can do no wrong while using this typeface. I am inspired by its clean lines, its symmetrical curves, & its perfect legibility no matter if you use Helvetica Ultra Light Condensed or Helvetica Black Extended Oblique. Gosh..... I love it so much, it almost makes me want to make out with it.

Designed by Max Miedinger in 1957 for the Haas foundry of Switzerland (the name is derived from Helvetia, the Latin name for Switzerland). This widely used typeface is seen everywhere on a daily basis. As a matter of fact, you are reading it right now. Helvetica is so popular, that they even made a documentary about it. In 2007, Gary Hustwi directed the film, Helvetica, a documentary about typography, graphic design, and global visual culture, which is currently in my Netflix queue.  Below is the trailer for the film.

While doing some research for an upcoming logo design project, I came across this article, 40 Excellent Logos Created with Helvetica ,which initially inspired me to write this blog post. The article shares with us 40 of the top Helvetica used recognizable logos we see everyday. On car emblems, on shopping bags, on our home & office computers, on the side of huge airplanes, on consumer goods, & probably the water bottle you just took a swig of H2O from.

Doing some further research on the typeface Helvetica, I found a designer who is such a hardcore l<3ver of Helvetica that he got a tramp stamp of it on his lower back. I'm sure that hurt like HEL-vetica!!!

L.O.V.E. is.....

Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of love is  (1) a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties, (2) attraction based on sexual desire : affection and tenderness felt by lovers, and (3) affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests.
To celebrate this love-fest-of-a-day, I would like to share what L.O.V.E. means to me.

My husband & I have been together for 9 years & have been married for just over 10 months. Our journey together has been a beautiful one. We met as kids & have grown up to be... well... big kids! Okay.... okay.... we are very mature adults now, I promise! Our love has developed into something I could have never imagined it to become. I know we will continue to grow our love much stronger as the years fly by.

L.O.V.E. is waking up a little earlier to feed the dogs for me because I snoozed my alarm.... twice, so I won't be late to work.

L.O.V.E. is leaving the porch light on, so when I get home from a long day at work I do not have to be frightened by the darkness.

L.O.V.E. is cooking a RIDONKULOUSLY, Delish, Nom-Nom kind of meal for us on our Pre-V-Day stay at home dinner. Good ol' surf & turf to satisfy that tummy. Don't forget the vino!

L.O.V.E. is making sure you give our dogs a pep talk to watch over me when you are away for work.

L.O.V.E. is the way you kiss me in the mornings while I'm asleep, to let me know that you are going to workout in the other room.

L.O.V.E. is getting all gussied up & being able to drag your butt into a portrait studio on a Saturday morning to take insanely uncomfortable portrait pictures just for a free weekend getaway.

L.O.V.E. is going on a beautiful, nature hike in the snow. When the trail was closed, we proceeded anyways. Totally worth it!

L.O.V.E. is making sure you both take the time to appreciate & respect one another. Having another person to do the same back to you is priceless.

L.O.V.E. is knowing what size he is for his favorite pair of shoes.

L.O.V.E. is everywhere, everyday, & always.
