HELVETICA. The go to typeface or font that is timeless. I heart Helvetica so much. I can do no wrong while using this typeface. I am inspired by its clean lines, its symmetrical curves, & its perfect legibility no matter if you use Helvetica Ultra Light Condensed or Helvetica Black Extended Oblique. Gosh..... I love it so much, it almost makes me want to make out with it.
Designed by Max Miedinger in 1957 for the Haas foundry of Switzerland (the name is derived from Helvetia, the Latin name for Switzerland). This widely used typeface is seen everywhere on a daily basis. As a matter of fact, you are reading it right now. Helvetica is so popular, that they even made a documentary about it. In 2007, Gary Hustwi directed the film, Helvetica, a documentary about typography, graphic design, and global visual culture, which is currently in my Netflix queue. Below is the trailer for the film.
Doing some further research on the typeface Helvetica, I found a designer who is such a hardcore l<3ver of Helvetica that he got a tramp stamp of it on his lower back. I'm sure that hurt like HEL-vetica!!!
Veer sells this Helvetica mug just for kicks. $18
This typeface is so popular that a designer from England created a blog for it. Graham Smith created LoveHelvetica, Anything Helvetica that comes my way gets dumped here. He also produced this clever poster above. You can download it here.
