Road Trippin'

We recently visited Northern California again, but this time is was because my younger brother graduated from college with his undergraduate degree. I'm so proud of him for his accomplishments. I was the designated photog for the event & captured this fun moment of him as he stood on his chair & waved back at the family.

From the East Bay area, my husband & I headed a few hours south & visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Both of us are a little obsessed with sea life, so we made a point to stop by & explore. I remember visiting this place as a kid & was so in awe of everything that I guess I never really grew out of it. The jellyfish exhibit was my fave!! If you've never been here before, it's definitely worth the long drive from SoCal. Double *thumbs up*!!

We headed further south from Monterey Bay down to Pismo Beach. Driving down Pacific Coast Highway along the coastline was spectacular. I'll be honest, I got a little car sick as we winded down those narrow roads, but the scenery was worth it. The California Condors soared above the cliff sides & the gorgeous surf was just breath taking.

Here's a little video I took when we stopped off the highway to check out the thousands of Elephant Seal's lined up on the beach at Año Nuevo State Park in San Mateo County. The site of these large stinky beasts was crazy madness!!

Fun finds last weekend when we stopped at the Camarillo Premium Outlets driving home from Northern California for my brothers college graduation. I get so giddy when I find a good deal, but I really get uber stoked when I find little treasures like these stationery supplies. These treasures below were all purchased from the Cotton On outlet. These Aussie branded office supplies are packaged in rustic textures & vintage & hand drawn typography. Super cute feel for the brand. 

I can't wait to use these post-it's on everything! I'm such a "note maker" kinda gal, it's actually a quite perfect find. I know buying a calendar this late in year is a little weird, but you can never have too many calendars. Also, the measure tape spooled ribbon is an awesome accent to the gifts I will be wrapping it with =)

Long Weekend

Happy Friday everyone!

I hope y'all have fantastic fun plans for this Memorial Day weekend. I sure some of you have already started to enjoy this long weekend. My birthday was yesterday & we have plans to celebrate this weekend with great friends & delish food. What I mostly want to do is be lazy & enjoy the beautiful upcoming weather & go "aaaaaaahhhhhhhh {insert *sigh* here}."

What are your plans for this weekend? BBQ, beach bumming, mountain hike? I'd love to hear =)

Just My TYPE Tuesdays: Typographic Self Portrait

I was cleaning out my digital files from an old external harddrive & found this fancy self-portrait. Being so fascinated with typography & imagery I posted this a while back & had mentioned that I would post my type self-portrait of myself when I found it. Well..... lucky day for you, cuz here it is!!!

I remember that this project was from my first typography class I ever took. I can't seem to recall my professors name, but that guy made us hand draw type forms..... booooooooyyyy was that a test of my patience. I am thankful of that semester in college. It taught me how to LOVE typography. And look, I even show a before & after process....... hahahaha.... so many periods for added shading. Do you think it looks like me???

Happy Mother's Day to all you mommy's!

I hope everyone has a fabulous day spending time with their mother's and/ or your wives. Mommy's are like superheroes. They may seem like normal women, but when trouble strikes, super mom to the rescue!!

Today we are having a lovely brunch with my parents at a local hotel. My mother-in-law is currently discovering awesome hiking trails in Zion so we wish her the best Mother's day too!!

Weekends Away

Hey guys! Happy Monday!
I wanted to share some happs from my recent weekends away. Boy I really needed these mini vaca's to catch up with friends & to getaway & do absolutely nothing. I always have to remember to slow down a bit or else work & other stressors can seem to overcome sometimes.

We recently took a quick trip up to San Francisco for my cousins 30th birthday. Went to REALLY yummy restaurants & spent some quality time with my family in the big city.

Best oysters in town if ya ask me! Well worth the wait..... *2 thumbs up!*

 While walking around in Golden Gate Park, my husband came upon this huge tree stump. Obviously we had to dare him to climb it....... as you can see.... victoire!

The following weekend my husband & I went further south to sunny San Diego to celebrate his big 3-0!! We stayed in the Gaslamp District which is one of our fave places to chillax & soak up that perfect SD sun.

We found this gastropub near by called Neighborhood on yelp  which was super packed, but surprisingly enough we had just beat the dinner crowd. We were seated out in the patio enjoying the cute ambiance the place had to offer. We tried their own brew on tap, their scrumptious cheese platter & I had their AMAZING steamed buns. After I tried my first gourmet steamed bun in NYC at Momofuku Noodle Bar, I have become obsessed with eating these asian version of a taco.

At our hotel, we also enjoyed their restaurants California Bennies... I don't get to eat breakfast like this often, so whenever I get a chance to, maaaaaan do I go for it!! Overall a TON of fun & some much needed R&R. Happy birthday again to my hubby & my cousin who turned 30 this year!!!
